M1851 Brogans Rough Side Out

Brogans are made with the Black Leather ROUGH Side Out. The shoe features four eyelets, leather laces and a square toe. The soles are pegged. The brogans are available only in regular width.

Brogan a term generally applied to any heavy, ankle-high shoe specifically, any such shoe worn by a soldier in the Civil War. The standard model of brogan worn by a soldier was the Model 1851 Jefferson, a square-toed model with four eyelets and leather laces. Brogans were interchangeable with the left or right foot, supposedly allowing for even wear on the boots.
